Find The Best Seniors Dental Vacation Countries, Dental Tourism Prices for Dental Implants, Cosmetic Dentistry, Oral Restoration & more
What can you do when your teeth skip out on you? Don't mortgage the farm - take a dental vacation!
By David R. Mandich Health Care Writer
Seniors and other
cost conscious patients are leaving the US and Canada for new smiles in Mexico
and Asia. They are finding low-cost, high-quality dentistry in far off exotic
places where it's always warm and the mai tai's, margaritas and beer are cold year
around.
Oral restoration
and dental implants are often half or less than the cost in these places vs.
dentists back in the US, Canada or in other western developed nations. Same
materials, same dental chairs, training and digital sterilizers.
Dental implants
costing $4-8,000us in the US cost only $2-2,500. complete by board certified
dentists in Asia and Mexico using name brand dental implants like Nobel
Biocare. Board certified dentist associations can refer you to the best
dentists in your preferred dental holiday destination.
You can save up
to 75% on your oral restoration on a dental vacation. For some seniors that
translate to a savings of $25,000 - $50,000.
An oral
restoration can involve dental implants, sinus lift surgery, mini implant
secured bridges, crowns, veneers, periodontal work and more.
The cost can be
$45,000us to $100,000 in pricey US clinics where the staff wear black, there's
marble and leather everywhere and photos by celebs on the salon walls. Don't be
seduced.
Whereas (roll the
drums please) a full-mouth restoration will run $12,000 to $25,000 in Asia or
Mexico depending on the procedures involved.
Manila dentists
speak perfect English as American English is the national language in the
Philippines. The travel experience for those who haven’t visited Asia is
priceless. And in Manila - you won't have to know how to say "ouch"
in Chinese or Malaysian.
San Diego is one
of America’s favorite vacation spots and is just across the border from
Tijuana. You stay and play in San Diego while you have your cosmetic dentistry,
oral restoration or dental implants 15 minutes down the highway in Tijuana.
Tijuana has theaters, malls, fine restaurants, clubs, museums, galleries and excellent board certified Mexico dentists in the upscale Zona Rio district.
Puerto
Vallarta dentists are
popular with seniors as the town is less touristy and more easygoing than famed party towns Cabo and Cancun. It's
also less pricey than Cabo, Cancun or Tijuana for accommodations and dentistry.
Bangkok and
Manila dentists have been popular with Europeans, Brits and Aussies
for decades who enjoy visiting
exotic places for a week or two on dental holidays.
Note: The Thai
military declared martial law in June
2014 after 2 years of political instability. Many foreign patients
are switching to Manila now. Filipinos love Americans and all things American
so you will feel right at home in this country.
Wherever you
choose to go for your dental implants or
cosmetic dentistry - be sure to choose a board certified dentist. They are the
best of the best having spent many extra years in dental specialist colleges
learning the advanced dental procedures most dental tourists are searching for.
Don't get lured into a
general dentist's clinic by fancy
advertising, marble floors, ferns or leather sofas in the salon.
Be careful as
general dentists in many developing nations (including Mexico) are permitted to
attempt advanced dental procedures without certification. And they all want big treatment dental tourism patients they have no business doing.
When you let a general dentist in Mexico or
Thailand do your dental makeover - you literally roll the dice as you don't
know what your are going to get. But Board Certified Dentist specialists back home and
abroad know - for they often redo the work of the un-certified dentists.
Ouch.
You will have plenty of time to play between your clinic appointments on your dental vacation
Below is a list of sites
that list only board certified dentists. Board certified dentists are less than 1% of
the dentists out there - and most dental tourism agencies don't differentiate
between general and bonafide board certified dentists and will list any
dentist or pretend specialist who pays their fees.
Board Certification is your best guarantee
that you will be treated by someone who really knows what they are doing as
they have been formally trained, tested and are held to the highest standards
of their specialist associations. Best of all - in developing countries, board certified dentists typically cost about the same as far-less trained general dentists.
